Chapter 343: A Bunch Of OP Players
Traps weren’t that rare in dungeons but for keyboard and mouse games, everyone either had a 3rd person perspective or a top down view, hence they would be able to see some warning signs before traps were activated. As long as one could accurately predict the trigger rate of a trap, it wasn’t that difficult to dodge afterwards.
On the other hand, in a full VR game like <>, everyone had a 1st person perspective. The low visibility in the cave coupled with the quiet activation of traps meant that at least half of the party would have died if not for Wang Yu’s warning.
VR games also put the player in the heat of the situation, so when the large metal ball flew over just now, it cast a shadow in everyone’s minds.
"D*mn, I almost peed my past!" After the metal ball flew a good distance away and everyone spent a good amount of time on the ground, Ming Du grumbled as he stood up.
"Do you want to die!" Wang Yu quickly pressed Ming Du back onto the ground.
"Whoosh..."
With another gush of wind, the large metal ball flew back once more... At the same time, multiple arrows were shot over, grazing Ming Du’s scalp.
"..."
Ming Du was drenched in cold sweat.
As the situation was rather dire, Fearless took out his prized pair of glasses and looked into the distance.
There wasn’t much lighting in the cave, so the eagle eyes of Archers weren’t of much use here. However, Fearless’s pair of glasses not only increased one’s range of sight, it could also grant one night vision, which made the path ahead very clear to him.
"D*mn it, there’s at least a few dozen traps ahead." Fearless cursed after taking off his glasses.
The end of this path was just a hundred metres away but there were a few dozen traps set up! And that was excluding the flying metal ball. This game really wanted to kill the players.
Upon hearing Fearless’s words, fear creeped into the eyes of everyone.
They hadn’t even progressed halfway through the dungeon and eight people were dead already... With these deadly traps in their way, they would probably all die before reaching the bottom.
"What should we do? We can’t just lie here and not move right..." Sanguine Wall asked.
After some thought, Ming Du replied: "We can continue crawling forward..." Following which, he even showed everyone the forward crawling motion.
Being an extremely unprofessional person, the action he made couldn’t be less perverted.
All of them began to sweat buckets. This was a despicable man indeed - even the ideas he thought of were as dirty as expected...
Yang Nuo stared at Ming Du and fiercy said: "You’re gonna ask me to do that, I’d rather die!"
"Then what do you propose for us to do?" Ming Du fired back.
"I’ve got nothing..." Yang Nuo shook her head.
"Then what are you saying!" Ming Du shouted.
In everyone’s hearts, they knew that Ming Du’s idea was an effective one despite being rather dirty.
Coldly laughing, Fearless added on: "Do you think all of the traps are in the air? The third trap ahead comes from bottom up. It’ll pierce a hundred holes in you!"
"D*mn, then what do you think we should do?" Ming Du was out of ideas.
At this moment, Spring Halo stretched his hand out towards Fearless: "Lend me the glasses."
With a frown, Fearless asked in a surprised tone: "Oh? There’s so many traps and some are so far away, are you sure you’re up to the challenge?"
"Definitely! If you don’t trust me, we can make a bet on this." Spring Halo smiled as he spoke.
"Bet your mom!" Wrinkles appeared all over Fearless’s forehead as he passed the glasses over to Spring Halo. He also continued: "You better be fast. This item loses one point of durability every minute and there’s nowhere to repair them."
"Got it." In the end, Spring Halo gazed into the distance with Fearless’s glasses in his hand while mumbling to himself. "The distance from the ball is... Based on the time it took just now, its speed should be... The time between shots by the crossbow..."
Just like that, Spring Halo took a whole minute observing the path before them before he took off the glasses and returned them to Fearless. Then he said the the group: "Later follow me closely. Do whatever I ask you to do, otherwise I won’t care if you die."
"We know, cut the crap and hurry along!" The members of Quan Zhen Sect replied in unison.
The Sanguine Alliance and Basic Numbers Squad members might have been rather confused by Spring Halo’s actions, but since the rest of Quan Zhen Sect had agreed to go ahead, they naturally didn’t dare to rebut.
Spring Halo replied: "What’s the rush. The metal ball is going to fly back soon. Once it has passed us, we’ll leave."
When his last word left his mouth, the gigantic metal flew over their heads.
"Everyone stop moving!" Spring Halo commanded before standing up abruptly and dropping down just as fast. A few arrows whizzed through the air, then he spoke: "We can do now."
After which, Spring Halo led the group in front while everyone stuck closely behind.
About five minutes of walking later, Spring Halo suddenly burst out: "Keep to the right!"
With all that had happened so far, no one dared to disobey his orders. Hence all of them jumped to the right, then a row of long spears shot out of the left wall.
Everyone pressed on, and 10 seconds later, Spring Halo stopped all of a sudden: "Stop, there’s spikes in the ground right ahead. Once the trap is disabled, quickly charge across then prone on the ground! Wait for my command!"
The party nodded their heads, and at that moment, a number of spikes poked out of the ground right ahead.
"Charge!"
Once the spikes went back down, Spring Halo gave the command and all of them charged through the spike territory before he shouted once more: "Get down!"
Everyone quickly landed on their bellies and they heard a loud whoosh over their heads - the large metal ball had swung back again.
...
With Spring Halo leading them for a few times, the group’s chemistry began to improve. Regardless whether they had to keep to the left or right, jump or crawl, under his impeccable leadership, they finally made it out of the trap area.
While the traps didn’t cause any physical damage to anyone, they had been stretched to the limit mentally.
Looking at the time, Fearless realised that they had taken a whole five minutes for this short path.
Of course, since they had been dodging traps all the way, this was already considered quite fast as there wasn’t a single second wasted. If it were any other team that lacked the precision of Spring Halo, they probably wouldn’t even have made it out in 10 minutes.
The few guys not from Quan Zhen Sect were extremely surprised by this outcome.
In online games, dungeons with traps were the most difficult to clear, and for one like this, it would usually take the first team to attempt it over 10 times before they would be able to accurately map out the firing rates and general guidelines for going through the traps.
However, Spring Halo observed the whole setup for less than a minute and could weave through it as though as he had done it a few hundred times. There was no hesitation or pausing from the start to the end, and no mistakes either. This level of ability was no less shocking than the almost god like skills of Wang Yu.
What made Little One and Little Five even more surprised was that the Quan Zhen Sect didn’t feel shocked by this - they carried on as though as this was the norm.
If it were some newbies, they might not have realised how much skill the whole manoeuvre took. But could these experts really not notice it?
The answer was definitely "No"!
As such, this ability of Spring Halo must have been considered as pretty ordinary among the ranks of the OP Quan Zhen Sect.
What an OP group of people...
