Chapter 294: Was That You? (5)
Qin Yinan’s arms that reached out toward Song Qingchun stopped in mid-air awkwardly. After a while, he realized what had happened and raised his head to follow Song Qingchun as she was picked up from the floor.
Su Zhinian was wearing a simple white shirt, but it was rather rumpled, probably because he had just been in a physical scuffle. One of the buttons on his sleeves had popped open to reveal his muscular lower arm.
His carved features wore a frighteningly cold expression. Fury and menace danced within his gaze, and his presence seemed to suggest that he was about to bring the world down.
His usual aloofness lent him an approachable aura, but Su Zhinian in the peak of his anger commanded a powerful presence. One glance at him and a chill would run down one’s spine.
However, even in such conditions, his looks were still as captivating as ever.
Qin Yinan had thought it was one of Song Qingchun’s colleagues who had come to lend her a hand, so he was shocked to realize it was Su Zhinian.
A flash of surprise crossed his eyes, and after he recovered from his initial shock, he greeted Su Zhinian politely. "CEO Su, when did you get here?"
Even though he had known Su Zhinian for many years, they had never been close; therefore, the greeting was awfully polite and business-like.
Su Zhinian was still catching his breath from the energy he had exhausted by making a meat pie out of the deliveryman.
With his hand around Song Qingchun’s shoulder, he stared directly at Song Qingchun as if he didn’t even hear Qin Yinan’s question. After a while, he asked, "Are you alright?"
The menace he commanded still lingered, and his tone was harsh and frigid.
Song Qingchun frowned slightly as his voice drifted into her ears. It was then that she realized she was no longer on the floor. Her eyes turned toward the direction of the voice and saw Su Zhinian.
Su Zhinian... Shouldn’t he be at work? Why is he here?
Song Qingchun’s brain had trouble processing the multitudes of information flooding into it.
Meeting and holding her gaze, Su Zhinian asked again, "Are you hurt in any way?"
This time, Su Zhinian didn’t wait for an answer. He lowered his head and started to examine her body. When he saw the gash on the chest area of her clothes, he reached out to examine it without hesitation. "Do you feel any pain here?"
Even though his tone was calm as ever and seemingly devoid of emotion, the unusual speed with which the question was asked betrayed his concern.
Song Qingchun started to blush from his intimate action and shook her head as she took a step back to create some distance between them.
Su Zhinian, in his worry, reached out for the top of her chest twice and pressed it twice to ensure there was no sticky feeling on his fingers before he sighed in relief and removed his hands.
"Do you need something to drink?"
Just as he asked that, a few police officers came over to them. They interrupted him when they asked Song Qingchun, "I’m sorry, miss, but are you the victim?"
Song Qingchun was feeling more like herself then. She noticed there were police officers all over the office talking to her colleagues to gather statements as well as information, and the deliveryman was detained in cuffs.
Song Qingchun nodded at the police officer who posed her the question and added, "Yes, I am."
