The Great Thief

Chapter 611: Assassin King

The treasure chest slowly opened.

Lu Li took a deep breath and reached into it.

Bracers of Assassins (Gold): Armor 35, Agility+ , Strength+12, Attack+%, Special Effect 1: Attack increases by %, critical strike chance increases by 15%, lasts for 30 seconds. Cooldown 30 minutes. Special effect 2: Upon successfully slaying a target within thirty seconds, Attack increases by 1%, stacks up to %. Level Requirement, Durability 82/82.

Lu Li was disappointed when he first saw that this was a Gold grade item.

However, as he continued to read its description and understood its special effects, he realized what he had obtained.

The legendary equipment for assassins!

There were many types of assassin equipment for all classes, but what they all shared was that they increased the strength of their owner by killing targets continuously within a certain amount of time.

Archeus could also be counted as a legendary assassin equipment, but it didn’t gain stacks during battles – it was just a rare equip that could be leveled. The bracers that he had just picked up were the first assassin equip he had ever seen.

Upon successfully slaying a target within thirty seconds, it would increase Attack by 1%, which stacked up to %.

What did this mean? If Lu Li killed a target within 30 seconds, his attack would increase by 1%, and if he killed another target within the next 30 seconds, his attack would increase by 1% again.

As long as he could consistently kill his targets within thirty seconds, his Attack would continue to increase.

If Lu Li’s attack doubled, he would deal 500-600 damage to monsters instead of 300. At the same time, as his attack increased, he would be able to kill his targets with greater ease.

This equip was extremely effective for killing monsters and in group fights.

Combined with the Lifesteal effect from the Supreme Ring, this item gave Lu Li a chance to fight upfront with an entire group of Warriors.

Of course, once the effects ended, it was best that he stayed hidden.

Gold chests usually only came with one item; it was empty after Lu Li took out the Bracers.

He teleported back to Gadgetzan and headed again to Zul’Farrk. Although Azure Sea Breeze and the others had already warned him to be careful along the way, Lu Li was still surprised by the number of player fights that he ran into.

The air flashed with all sorts of colors from skills and the sound of people fighting. Lu Li soon became one of the targets as Stealth had lost its effect in the area.

"It’s an Alliance player! Kill him!" There was no doubt that the player who shouted this belonged to the Horde faction.

Lu Li was forced to use his Gale Steps, as there were many Mages here and they could kill him with basic ice spells. Not to mention, they had Water Elementals with them.

Once he was controlled, it would be hard for him to escape.

"Gale Steps!" These people weren’t scared of him, but happy. "It’s a big one! Freeze him with the Water Elemental; we’ll split the money from the equipment that he drops."

"****," Lu Li cursed; these damned mercenaries would do anything for money. He recognized these players as mercenaries because of the Frost Nova that they casted.

Average players could not afford a rare skill book like Frost Nova, but this was a different story for the mercenaries. They were willing to invest in a skill like this to kill others.

Most of these players would have learned some control skills, so it would be hard to escape them even with Gale Steps.

They split their jobs so that each player covered a certain area with their own control skill. If there were no surprises on his side, Lu Li would be caught by these players.

However, Lu Li’s existence itself was a surprise. He boosted his movement speed with his boots which immediately set these players off their plan. Within a few steps, he had disappeared from their sight.

He was a Thief that focused on Agility and had a whole set of exquisite equips, so he was too fast to be caught.

One of the mercenaries had a loud voice, which he used to express his opinion. "****, son of a *****. Damn his fast legs."

Lu Li’s footsteps halted immediately.

Blood rushed up to his head; he almost jumped at this player irrationally. He had lost his mother when he was young, but she had always been an important figure in his life.

These people had to pay!

Lu Li turned around and gave these people another glance, suppressing his anger as he sent Wandering a message that informed the others that he would arrive later.

He silently moved and hid in the shadows of the desert. It was hard to pick up his footsteps that disappeared quickly.

These players had taken over a large section of the pathway and they were scattered across the territory that they had claimed. They seemed like average players who were completing their quests nearby, but experienced players like Lu Li could tell them apart. There were hundreds of them.

Most importantly, these players all had a mercenary badge which made them very easy to recognize.

There was a huge amount of them, but this was quite normal. Without their numbers, there was no way that they would be able to stand their ground in a war zone like this.

"Boss, incoming. Doesn’t seem like the players from the major guilds. It’s probably just a few random players that grouped together." These mercenaries didn’t use their chat channel, so their voices reached Lu Li.

Zul’Farrk was a dungeon that everyone wanted to take part in at the moment, including all players with or without guilds.

In order to increase their chances of survival, they had formed a large group of random players. They weren’t expecting everyone to make it past, but they were hoping that they could run faster than the others.

It would take another few months until random players formed an alliance. After the alliance formed, it became hard for others to bully them.

Lu Li laughed coldly in his heart and began to patiently wait for his chance.

One of the Warlocks from the mercenary group was attacking his target with excitement, but suddenly he was stunned by a Thief. Before his team members got to rescue him, he had already lost a great amount of health.

Lu Li calculated his moves; he had already found his second and third targets.

Without any delay, he pounced onto his next victim. These mercenaries relied on numbers; they died more often than PVP players and they often died in the wild. As such, their levels weren’t high – quite a lot of them were only around level 30.

It didn’t take Lu Li more than twenty seconds to kill these players.

As he killed more and more players, his Attack stacked higher and higher.

At first, he needed to use his special effects to ensure that he killed a player within 30 seconds. If Lu Li killed around twenty to thirty players, his Attack would increase by 30% and no one would be able to stop him.
