Even after staying in a hotel and a villa for so long, Zhang Zian still felt that his own house was the most comfortable. No matter how luxurious other places could be, they would never be able to provide the kind familiarity of his own house.
In the morning, due to the jet lag, Zian got up later than usual and went straight to the bathroom after waking up.
There was a partition in the bathroom of his house that separated the toilet bowl, washing machine, shower, bathtub, and sink from the wet and dry. It was fortunate that he had that, otherwise he would not have dared to put the mermaid in the bathtub that was in his room. She would have definitely shouted “pervert…”
But even so, Zian was still nervous when he peed and it took him a very long time to finish. Zian did his best to control the “rhythm” in order to prevent her from hearing the splashing noises––that would be too embarrassing.
After Zian was done relieving himself, he went over next door to wash up. That’s when he realized that he had thought too much—Sihwa’s whole body was submerged in the water when she slept, so she wouldn’t have been able to hear him anyway.
She was still deeply asleep; her hands were folded across her abdomen and her seaweed-like, dark green hair floated around her head and in front of her chest. She would occasionally blow bubbles out of her mouth that would float up to the surface of the water before they popped.
If her lower half, light blue fishtail were to be ignored, if someone were to see the scene in front of him, they would probably think that Zian had murdered someone and was trying to hide the corpse.
While he was washing his hands, Zian secretly complained about the difficult problem that Old Time Tea had given him. Zian felt that it wasn’t necessary for the mermaid to wear clothes since that long eyesore of her hair always covered up her chest, so putting on clothes seemed unnecessary…
But since Old Time Tea had already spoken, he could only buy her a swimsuit.
Of course, an ordinary one-piece swimsuit was no good. She didn’t have any legs so she wouldn’t be able to put it on, so his only option was to purchase two-piece swimsuits.
As a pure male with no girlfriend, Zhang Zian couldn’t go to the mall himself to buy a women’s swimsuit––he would be treated as a pervert, and it also wasn’t a good idea to ask a female friend to buy it for him. Fortunately there was Taobao––one could get an aircraft carrier or a J-20 on there, not to mention a swimsuit.
The night before, Zian had let Sihwa choose a swimsuit that was to her liking from his phone. It only took her a moment to pick out a light blue bikini, one that was about the same color as her tail. Of course, that was if it was exactly the same as the one in the pictures.
Zhang Zian didn’t know her measurements, so he did not know how to select a size for her and she herself didn’t know, either. But, fortunately, the kind and helpful seller told him that he was able to make his selection through her weight. However, he also didn’t know what her weight was, so he thought of an idea.
According to the Archimedes Principle, through the weight of the water spilled out from the bathtub, he would be able to roughly deduce her buoyancy. Since she was able to remain floating in the bathtub, he would be able to further estimate her weight… That principle was, of course, nonsense. He threw her a tape measure and told her to measure her bust size.
After that, it was a little more problematic as he only wanted to buy the upper half of the bikini, but the customer service insisted that they were only able to sell it as a set and not separately. They had also mentioned that they have never heard of anyone buying only half a set…
But the problem was that a mermaid would only need half a set, so what would he do with the lower half? Collect them?
After negotiating for half a day, Zian still lost to the customer service and paid for the entire bikini set, feeling like he had just lost a hundred million!
Splash!
While Zian was brushing his teeth in front of the mirror, Sihwa stuck her head out of the bathtub and wiped the water off of her face. She hurriedly said, “A-jeoan, I want to watch TV! I only watched half of the previous Korean drama, so I still want to know the ending of the series!”
Zhang Zian spat out the foam in his mouth. “When you wake up in the morning, you should greet someone with ‘good morning’ or even just ‘morning.’ Another thing… why were you dragging your voice earlier?”
“I accidentally bit my tongue!” she said as she pouted her lips.
The other elfins woke up one after another.
Galaxy jumped out of the crib and walked past the bathroom. It saw Zhang Zian standing inside so it raised up one of its front paws and greeted, “Meow. Good morning, Zian.”
“Good morning, Galaxy.”
“Zian, do you want to play hide and seek?” Galaxy asked while it tilted its head.
“Maybe later. There are a lot of things to do today.” Zhang Zian wiped his mouth clean with a towel.
“Meow. Okay.” Galaxy happily pushed open the living room door with its front paw, heading downstairs to play with Wendy and the American shorthairs.
Zhang Zian said to Sihwa, “Look at Galaxy––the first thing it does in the morning is greet others good morning, you need to start learning.”
“But I’m not a cat… acting cute is not my thing!” she said.
Richard appeared from below a small blanket that was next to the pillow. It flapped its wings and said, “Ga ga! You’re right! Being stupid is your thing!”
“I don’t care! I don’t care! I want to watch TV! I want to watch Korean dramas!” She swished her hair around like a rattle drum and made the whole bathroom wet with water droplets.
“I don’t have a TV here! Look at me, I don’t watch TV,” Zhang Zian said.
“You liar!” she said as she puffed out her cheeks. She glared at Zian. “I heard TV sounds coming from downstairs last night! Don’t think that I don’t know anything!”
“Cough! That was this old one watching the television.” Old Time Tea said as it woke up. It stretched its body and put on his bamboo hat.
“I don’t care! I want to watch too! I want to watch TV! I want to watch TV!” She continued to make a fuss about how she wanted to watch TV no matter what.
Old Time Tea sternly said, “Sihwa, this old one here is some years ahead of you, and I was here before you were. Previously, this old one did not know about television, but after watching television for some time now, this old one has some understanding towards television now.”
Sihwa frowned. She couldn’t really comprehend Old Time Tea’s words.
Old Time Tea continued, “This old one feels that television is not suitable for children who are too young because much of its content is still open to question. It may lead children who have yet to develop an outlook on this world towards the wrong direction. So, watching television is more suitable for adults who are able to make their own judgments.”
“But I’m also an adult.” She pointed at herself and said, “My swimsuit is extra large, okay?”
Zhang Zian was speechless.
Old Time Tea laughed and said, “Hehe. Whether or not you’re considered an adult is not determined by your body, but your mind. From what this old one sees, Sihwa, you are still too young and not suitable to be watching television.”
Sihwa took in a deep breath and, just as she was about to make her retort, Old Time Tea changed his tone and said, “Of course, if you behave well, it’s not like we can’t let you watch television.”
It was clear that, since Old Time Tea grew up with Ye Wen who was very playful and mischievous during his younger days, Old Time Tea was very experienced in handling children. It was no other than the carrot and stick…
Sure enough, Sihwa fell for it. She supported her hands on the edge of the bathtub and asked, “So, what counts as behaving well?”
“You may start with the greetings in the morning,” Old Time Tea laughed and said.
She pouted her lips. Even though she was reluctant, the attraction of the TV was too much for her, so she softly said, “Good… good morning.”
