The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 453

Using this as an excuse to leave this awkward atmosphere she excused herself and stood up.

As soon as she got up Yi Chen who had been behaving well just now moved his hand underneath the table looking for Zi Han’s hand but he ended up touching the man’s member instead.

Zi Han raised his brow and glanced at Yi Chen who looked like he was about to die from embarrassment. He pressed the tip of his tongue on his cheek while looking away. Yi Chen’s shy appearance made him feel like pressing him down and straddling him right here.

Zi Han cleared his throat while rubbing the back of his head masking his true intentions. Just as the girl brought over the nutritional supplements, the door was pushed open and an older gentleman walked in with piles of things.

“Mi Mi I am home,” he said only to freeze when he saw the two men sitting on the small kitchen table.

“Uh... Chen, you brought a friend?” he asked with slight hesitation as he put the things down. After saying this he suddenly felt like something was wrong. Chen didn’t have any friends. In fact, he was new here so how could he know anyone enough to bring them here? However short of a time it was he was well aware of this man’s personality. He didn’t warm up to anyone easily. Even after living with them for so long he still wasn’t as open as most people would.

“No... he is not a friend. He is my wife,” replied Yi Chen holding Zi Han’s hand underneath the table.

.....

Old Du looked at his daughter who was clenching the nutritional packets tightly till her knuckles turned white. He sympathised with her and could only comfort her.

She knew about this man’s wife from the very beginning and he had repeatedly told her not to have any expectations but of course, his daughter was still so hopeful.

“Uhm...,” he murmured as he sat down next to his daughter before continuing, “I wasn’t expecting that she... I mean he would come this soon.”

Zi Han knew this person meant no harm but still he couldn’t help but feel slight annoyance. He tapped the side of his face and the mask on his face vanished like a mirage revealing a very handsome countenance.

The two people sitting opposite him were stunned when they saw that face. It wasn’t what they expected at all.

Zi Han smiled at them and said, “I have been wearing that face for an entire day.” He had seen that look in the girl’s eyes. It was a contemptuous gaze like he wasn’t worth being with Yi Chen. He could have been a bigger person and let it go but that look annoyed him half to death thus he showed his true face.

“My name is Zi Han... you can call me Han if you wish,” said Zi Han while stretching out his hand to the man sitting opposite him.

Old Du stretched out his hand and the two shook hands getting the formal niceties out of the way.

“Thank you for taking him in. I really appreciate it. I was worried half to death,” said Zi Han and Yi Chen tightened his grip on Zi Han’s hand. A wonderful warmth spread all over his chest hearing this. It was a very wonderful feeling, to say the least.

“No no no... no need. If it weren’t for him I would have lost my daughter. He saved us and I owe him my life,” said the older man while glancing at his daughter whose expression was still so ghastly.

“How about we have some food first,” said Yi Chen, and Zi Han glanced down at the monstrosity in the tray. There was no way he was eating that but how to refuse when he was a guest in someone else’s home?

“I um... I am not used to this but I can make us something you know as a thank you,” he said recalling how nasty it tasted after trying some. It was like his taste buds were being burnt by acid and he felt the urge to spit it all out.

Zi Han couldn’t even swallow it. He knew it wasn’t poisonous but his body rejected it like it was venomous. He wasn’t being rude or anything but he just wasn’t a person who would wrong himself or his fiance.

The girl snorted silently while lowering her head. Brother Chen didn’t dislike the nutritional supplements from the first day. He thanked her politely and drank it without even changing his face but this person couldn’t even give it a try.

He might be handsome but to her, his character was just as rotten. “You dislike our food?” she said only for her father to call out,

“Michaela!” his tone was reprehensive.

Zi Han didn’t mind. He could understand the feeling of getting your heart broken before your spring could even blossom.

“I really didn’t mean to be disrespectful. I just can’t stomach it. I have tried. Let me make something for you,” he said and got up only for Mi Mi to say,

“We don’t have any food,” unable to control herself.

Zi Han folded his sleeve while saying, “It’s okay. All I need is a functional stove.”

Mi Mi rolled her eyes and her father gave her a warning glance but it was as though his usually obedient daughter had been possessed by something that even he couldn’t recognise her.

Yi Chen was about to follow but old Du stopped him while asking, “Do you mind if we talk for a minute?” his voice low.

Yi Chen glanced at the already uncuffed wrist seeming a little dejected. He wanted to be with Zi Han all the time. It was because he was afraid that the moment he turns around this person might disappear and he won’t find him ever again.

Yi Chen could only agree so the older man asked if they could go out and talk. After all, they were in the small kitchen and Zi Han would overhear their conversation. Mi Mi wanted to follow but her father stopped her and the two men left the small house.
