A Husband For Killer Mom

Chapter 172 - 172 Ch. 172 A Family Warmth

It took a couple of minutes for Anxia to recall what had happened to her―she remembered the sudden ambush and the gunshot in her shoulder.

She already expected it―once she got entangled in the assassin world, no matter how much she wanted to get out, Anxia could never be free from her past.

Anxia stared at the ceiling blankly. The fact she had opened her eyes and was staring at the ceiling of her room―she knew she was still alive and had returned home safely.

How could she not be alive? If Xuemin truly wanted her―wanted Michele dead, she would be dead by now. Not to mention, that man had shot all her assailants dead. Not long after, Richard found her right before she lost consciousness. Even though she didn’t know what happened after she met her husband, Anxia was sure that Richard would not just let her die.

Hence, Anxia wasn’t too confused that she still survived despite losing much blood.

But only when she glanced to her left and noticed a head sleeping in an uncomfortable position did Anxia feel stunned. Not only on her left but on her right was another head sleeping while holding his hand.

Richard slept in a sitting position with his back bent to her left, while Harmonie fell asleep on her other side facing her while holding her right hand.

Her heart felt warm, realizing how deep the attention her husband and sister-in-law gave her. This is what it would be like if she had a family―the family Anxia thought she would never have.

.....

Before she met Richard, no one cared about Anxia. They let her get sick and wished her a quick death if she felt unwell. Anxia had to take care of her health independently and take care of herself if she was injured or sick. Only Ling Meng was willing to accompany and care for her like a sister. But the girl couldn’t be with Anxia all the time because Ling Meng often got missions from Master Yu to hack.

As a result, Anxia could only rely on herself and never expect the help of others.

When she reunited with Richard and married him, Anxia still paid attention to her health. Even though she had opened her heart to Richard and tried to rely on him, she still couldn’t get rid of her habit of having to take care of herself.

This was the first time she had fallen ill and had a fever since she had officially become master Yu’s assassin. And this was the first time Anxia had someone to accompany her and care for her. She started to regret thinking it would be better if she died.

Anxia knew that if she left this world, Lori would cry, and her husband would mourn her loss. Not only Richard and Lori but Harmonie would be grieving as well.

Anxia felt grateful that she was alive and wanted nothing more than to see her husband’s face every time she woke up in the morning. She raised her left hand to touch her husband’s brown hair―she stroked it gently so as not to wake Richard, but it seemed the man was still awake when he felt something touch his head.

“Xia Xia? Xia Xia! You’ve woken up!” Richard immediately raised his head, and his expression brightened as soon as he saw his wife’s pair of black eyes looking at him.

The loud sound of Richard’s exclamation woke Harmonie up, and the girl sat up directly to see Anxia’s face.

“Anxia, ??you finally woke up. I thought I would lose you.”

“Moni, I should have said that.” was Richard’s comment upon hearing his sister’s remark.

“Xia Xia, I am thrilled you have returned to me.” Richard gave light kisses all over Anxia’s face making the girl giggle. “From now on, you can’t leave my sight. I won’t let you go alone,” continued Richard―he did not want to be denied.

“Anxia, ??I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have brought you there.”

“Moni, it’s not your fault. I should have contacted Richard as soon as I sensed someone was following us.”

“What? You sensed someone following us? Since when?” Harmonie was stunned―couldn’t believe Anxia had sensed someone else stalking them.

“Why didn’t you tell me when I arrived?” Richard wished he could be angry but couldn’t when he heard a pained groan escape from Anxia’s lips. “Does it still hurt?”

Anxia smiled slightly as she managed to divert her husband’s focus. “Not anymore―my head just … a little dizzy.” Anxia massaged her forehead with her uninjured left hand.

“You better go back to sleep. are you hungry? What do you want to eat?”

“Maybe… light ones?”

“I will have the chef cook porridge for you,” said Harmonie. “I will also tell the others that Anxia is awake.”

Richard nodded in agreement while not forgetting to thank his younger sister again.

“Aw… she’s so cute. I didn’t know she was so worried about me. Ouch! Why did you flick me? You realize I’m a patient!” Anxia grumbled while stroking her forehead.

“A patient has never been chatty. Besides, why did you throw your phone away?”

Anxia gaped in disbelief at her husband’s accusation without proof. “You think I threw my phone away on purpose? I was about to call you when I realized I had lost my phone. I didn’t know I dropped it.”

“Okay. Let’s say you accidentally dropped it―But does that mean you can go after a criminal alone? Who do you think you are? A detective? Do you know what I will do to the people who have attacked you if you don’t wake up today?”

For some reason, Anxia felt interested in what the man was going to do instead of thinking about calming her husband’s emotions.

“What would you do?”

“I’ll send them to the lab to become scientific guinea pigs.”

Anxia laughed out loud at her husband’s sentence. She knew what kind of scientist her husband meant―the group of scientists led by Sheylie to test the level of poison that can be used for medicine or vice versa.

If the trials failed, there was the possibility of quite painful side effects in the ‘guinea pig.’

Alas, all of her assailants had dead. How fortunate.
